Q.S At-Takwir (اَلتَّكْوِير) - 29 Number of Verses

اِذَا الشَّمْسُ كُوِّرَتْۖ

iżasy-syamsu kuwwirat.

When the sun is rolled up,

وَاِذَا النُّجُوْمُ انْكَدَرَتْۖ

wa iżan-nujūmunkadarat.

and stars fall from the sky,

وَاِذَا الْجِبَالُ سُيِّرَتْۖ

wa iżal-jibālu suyyirat.

and mountains are crushed to dust,

وَاِذَا الْعِشَارُ عُطِّلَتْۖ

wa iżal-‘isyāru ‘uṭṭilat.

and pregnant camels are left untended,

وَاِذَا الْوُحُوْشُ حُشِرَتْۖ

wa iżal-wuḥūsy ḥusyirat.

and wild beasts are gathered together,

وَاِذَا الْبِحَارُ سُجِّرَتْۖ

wa iżal-biḥāru sujjirat.

and oceans are set ablaze,

وَاِذَا النُّفُوْسُ زُوِّجَتْۖ

wa iżan-nufūsu zuwwijat.

and souls are reunited with bodies,

وَاِذَا الْمَوْءٗدَةُ سُىِٕلَتْۖ

wa iżal-mau'ūdatu su'ilat.

and buried infant girls are questioned,

بِاَيِّ ذَنْۢبٍ قُتِلَتْۚ

bi'ayyi żambin qutilat.

for what sin were they killed?

وَاِذَا الصُّحُفُ نُشِرَتْۖ

wa iżaṣ-ṣuḥufu nusyirat.

and record books are spread wide,

وَاِذَا السَّمَاۤءُ كُشِطَتْۖ

wa iżas-samā'u kusyiṭat.

and sky is stripped away,

وَاِذَا الْجَحِيْمُ سُعِّرَتْۖ

wa iżal-jaḥīmu su‘‘irat.

and Hellfire is fiercely kindled,

وَاِذَا الْجَنَّةُ اُزْلِفَتْۖ

wa iżal-jannatu uzlifat.

and Paradise is brought near,

عَلِمَتْ نَفْسٌ مَّآ اَحْضَرَتْۗ

‘alimat nafsum mā aḥḍarat.

every soul knows what it has done.

فَلَآ اُقْسِمُ بِالْخُنَّسِۙ

falā uqsimu bil-khunnas(i).

I swear by the moving stars,

الْجَوَارِ الْكُنَّسِۙ

al-jawāril-kunnas(i).

that orbit and set at dusk,

وَالَّيْلِ اِذَا عَسْعَسَۙ

wal-laili iżā ‘as‘as(a).

by the night when it fades away,

وَالصُّبْحِ اِذَا تَنَفَّسَۙ

waṣ-ṣubḥi iżā tanaffas(a).

by the dawn when light breaks,

اِنَّهٗ لَقَوْلُ رَسُوْلٍ كَرِيْمٍۙ

innahū laqaulu rasūlin karīm(in).

truly, this is the noble messenger’s word,

ذِيْ قُوَّةٍ عِنْدَ ذِى الْعَرْشِ مَكِيْنٍۙ

Żī quwwatin ‘inda żil-‘arsyi makīn(in).

with strength, high rank near the Throne,

مُّطَاعٍ ثَمَّ اَمِيْنٍۗ

muṭā‘in ṡamma amīn(in).

obeyed and trusted among angels.

وَمَا صَاحِبُكُمْ بِمَجْنُوْنٍۚ

wa mā ṣāḥibukum bimajnūn(in).

Your companion is not insane.

وَلَقَدْ رَاٰهُ بِالْاُفُقِ الْمُبِيْنِۚ

wa laqad ra'āhu bil-ufuqil-mubīn(i).

He saw the angel on clear horizon.

وَمَا هُوَ عَلَى الْغَيْبِ بِضَنِيْنٍۚ

wa mā huwa ‘alal-gaibi biḍanīn(in).

He is not stingy with hidden truths.

وَمَا هُوَ بِقَوْلِ شَيْطٰنٍ رَّجِيْمٍۚ

wa mā huwa biqauli syaiṭānir rajīm(in).

This is not the cursed devil’s word,

فَاَيْنَ تَذْهَبُوْنَۗ

fa aina tażhabūn(a).

so where will you turn?

اِنْ هُوَ اِلَّا ذِكْرٌ لِّلْعٰلَمِيْنَۙ

in huwa illā żikrul lil-‘ālamīn(a).

It is a warning for all creation,

لِمَنْ شَاۤءَ مِنْكُمْ اَنْ يَّسْتَقِيْمَۗ

liman syā'a minkum ay yastaqīm(a).

for whoever seeks the straight path.

وَمَا تَشَاۤءُوْنَ اِلَّآ اَنْ يَّشَاۤءَ اللّٰهُ رَبُّ الْعٰلَمِيْنَ ࣖ

wa mā tasyā'ūna illā ay yasyā'allāhu rabbul-‘ālamīn(a).

You cannot will it unless Allah wills.
