Q.S Ar-Rahman (اَلرَّحْمَٰن) - 78 Number of Verses

(The Most Merciful)

1

اَلرَّحْمٰنُۙ

ar-raḥmān(u).

The Most Gracious.



2

عَلَّمَ الْقُرْاٰنَۗ

‘allamal-qur'ān(a).

He taught the Qur’an.



3

خَلَقَ الْاِنْسَانَۙ

khalaqal-insān(a).

He created mankind.



4

عَلَّمَهُ الْبَيَانَ

‘allamahul-bayān(a).

He taught them speech.



5

اَلشَّمْسُ وَالْقَمَرُ بِحُسْبَانٍۙ

asy-syamsu wal-qamaru biḥusbān(in).

The sun and moon move by precise calculation.



6

وَّالنَّجْمُ وَالشَّجَرُ يَسْجُدَانِ

wan-najmu wasy-syajaru yasjudān(i).

The plants and trees bow down to Him.



7

وَالسَّمَاۤءَ رَفَعَهَا وَوَضَعَ الْمِيْزَانَۙ

was-samā'a rafa‘ahā wa waḍa‘al-mīzān(a).

He raised the sky and set the balance.



8

اَلَّا تَطْغَوْا فِى الْمِيْزَانِ

allā taṭgau fil-mīzān(i).

So you do not transgress the balance.



9

وَاَقِيْمُوا الْوَزْنَ بِالْقِسْطِ وَلَا تُخْسِرُوا الْمِيْزَانَ

wa aqīmul-wazna bil-qisṭi wa lā tukhsirul-mīzān(a).

Establish the balance with justice and do not diminish it.



10

وَالْاَرْضَ وَضَعَهَا لِلْاَنَامِۙ

wal-arḍa waḍa‘ahā lil-anām(i).

He spread the earth for His creatures.



11

فِيْهَا فَاكِهَةٌ وَّالنَّخْلُ ذَاتُ الْاَكْمَامِۖ

fīhā fākihatuw wan-nakhlu żātul-akmām(i).

In it are fruits and date palms with sheaths.



12

وَالْحَبُّ ذُو الْعَصْفِ وَالرَّيْحَانُۚ

wal-ḥabbu żul-‘aṣfi war-raiḥān(u).

And grains with husks and fragrant flowers.



13

فَبِاَيِّ اٰلَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبٰنِ

fa bi'ayyi ālā'i rabbikumā tukażżibān(i).

Which of your Lord’s favors will you deny?



14

خَلَقَ الْاِنْسَانَ مِنْ صَلْصَالٍ كَالْفَخَّارِ

khalaqal-insāna min ṣalṣālin kal-fakhkhār(i).

He created man from dry clay like pottery.



15

وَخَلَقَ الْجَاۤنَّ مِنْ مَّارِجٍ مِّنْ نَّارٍۚ

wa khalaqal-jānna mim mārijim min nār(in).

And jinn from smokeless flame.



16

فَبِاَيِّ اٰلَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبٰنِ

fa bi'ayyi ālā'i rabbikumā tukażżibān(i).

Which of your Lord’s favors will you deny?



17

رَبُّ الْمَشْرِقَيْنِ وَرَبُّ الْمَغْرِبَيْنِۚ

rabbul-masyriqaini wa rabbul-magribain(i).

Lord of the two Easts and two Wests.



18

فَبِاَيِّ اٰلَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبٰنِ

fa bi'ayyi ālā'i rabbikumā tukażżibān(i).

Which of your Lord’s favors will you deny?



19

مَرَجَ الْبَحْرَيْنِ يَلْتَقِيٰنِۙ

marajal-baḥraini yaltaqiyān(i).

He let loose the two rivers to meet.



20

بَيْنَهُمَا بَرْزَخٌ لَّا يَبْغِيٰنِۚ

bainahumā barzakhul lā yabgiyān(i).

Between them is a barrier they cannot cross.



21

فَبِاَيِّ اٰلَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبٰنِ

fa bi'ayyi ālā'i rabbikumā tukażżibān(i).

Which of your Lord’s favors will you deny?



22

يَخْرُجُ مِنْهُمَا اللُّؤْلُؤُ وَالْمَرْجَانُۚ

yakhruju minhumal-lu'lu'u wal-marjān(u).

From them emerge pearls and coral.



23

فَبِاَيِّ اٰلَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبٰنِ

fa bi'ayyi ālā'i rabbikumā tukażżibān(i).

Which of your Lord’s favors will you deny?



24

وَلَهُ الْجَوَارِ الْمُنْشَاٰتُ فِى الْبَحْرِ كَالْاَعْلَامِۚ

wa lahul-jawāril-munsya'ātu fil-baḥri kal-a‘lām(i).

His are the ships sailing like mountains on the sea.



25

فَبِاَيِّ اٰلَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبٰنِ ࣖ

fa bi'ayyi ālā'i rabbikumā tukażżibān(i).

Which of your Lord’s favors will you deny?



26

كُلُّ مَنْ عَلَيْهَا فَانٍۖ

kullu man ‘alaihā fān(in).

All on earth will perish.



27

وَّيَبْقٰى وَجْهُ رَبِّكَ ذُو الْجَلٰلِ وَالْاِكْرَامِۚ

wa yabqā wajhu rabbika żul-jalāli wal-ikrām(i).

But your Lord’s Face, full of majesty and glory, endures.



28

فَبِاَيِّ اٰلَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبٰنِ

fa bi'ayyi ālā'i rabbikumā tukażżibān(i).

Which of your Lord’s favors will you deny?



29

يَسْـَٔلُهٗ مَنْ فِى السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالْاَرْضِۗ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ هُوَ فِيْ شَأْنٍۚ

yas'aluhū man fis-samāwāti wal-arḍ(i), kulla yaumin huwa fī sya'n(in).

All in heavens and earth seek Him; every day He is in a new affair.



30

فَبِاَيِّ اٰلَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبٰنِ

fa bi'ayyi ālā'i rabbikumā tukażżibān(i).

Which of your Lord’s favors will you deny?



31

سَنَفْرُغُ لَكُمْ اَيُّهَ الثَّقَلٰنِۚ

sanafrugu lakum ayyuhaṡ-ṡaqalān(i).

We shall attend to you, O mankind and jinn.



32

فَبِاَيِّ اٰلَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبٰنِ

fa bi'ayyi ālā'i rabbikumā tukażżibān(i).

Which of your Lord’s favors will you deny?



33

يٰمَعْشَرَ الْجِنِّ وَالْاِنْسِ اِنِ اسْتَطَعْتُمْ اَنْ تَنْفُذُوْا مِنْ اَقْطَارِ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالْاَرْضِ فَانْفُذُوْاۗ لَا تَنْفُذُوْنَ اِلَّا بِسُلْطٰنٍۚ

yā ma‘syaral-jinni wal-insi inistaṭa‘tum an tanfużū min aqṭāris-samāwāti wal-arḍi fanfużū, lā tanfużūna illā bisulṭān(in).

O company of jinn and mankind, if you can penetrate the heavens’ and earth’s bounds, do so. You cannot without authority.



34

فَبِاَيِّ اٰلَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبٰنِ

fa bi'ayyi ālā'i rabbikumā tukażżibān(i).

Which of your Lord’s favors will you deny?



35

يُرْسَلُ عَلَيْكُمَا شُوَاظٌ مِّنْ نَّارٍۙ وَّنُحَاسٌ فَلَا تَنْتَصِرَانِۚ

yursalu ‘alaikumā syuwāẓum min nār(in), wa nuḥāsun falā tantaṣirān(i).

Flames and molten brass will be sent against you, and you cannot escape.



36

فَبِاَيِّ اٰلَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبٰنِ

fa bi'ayyi ālā'i rabbikumā tukażżibān(i).

Which of your Lord’s favors will you deny?



37

فَاِذَا انْشَقَّتِ السَّمَاۤءُ فَكَانَتْ وَرْدَةً كَالدِّهَانِۚ

fa iżansyaqqatis-samā'u fa kānat wardatan kad-dihān(i).

When the sky splits, turning red like molten oil.



38

فَبِاَيِّ اٰلَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبٰنِ

fa bi'ayyi ālā'i rabbikumā tukażżibān(i).

Which of your Lord’s favors will you deny?



39

فَيَوْمَئِذٍ لَّا يُسْـَٔلُ عَنْ ذَنْۢبِهٖٓ اِنْسٌ وَّلَا جَاۤنٌّۚ

fa yauma'iżil lā yus'alu ‘an żambihī insuw wa lā jānn(un).

That day, no human or jinn will be questioned about their sins.



40

فَبِاَيِّ اٰلَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبٰنِ

fa bi'ayyi ālā'i rabbikumā tukażżibān(i).

Which of your Lord’s favors will you deny?



41

يُعْرَفُ الْمُجْرِمُوْنَ بِسِيْمٰهُمْ فَيُؤْخَذُ بِالنَّوَاصِيْ وَالْاَقْدَامِۚ

yu‘raful-mujrimūna bisīmāhum fa yu'khażu bin-nawāṣī wal-iqdām(i).

Sinners will be known by their marks, seized by forelocks and feet.



42

فَبِاَيِّ اٰلَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبٰنِ

fa bi'ayyi ālā'i rabbikumā tukażżibān(i).

Which of your Lord’s favors will you deny?



43

هٰذِهٖ جَهَنَّمُ الَّتِيْ يُكَذِّبُ بِهَا الْمُجْرِمُوْنَۘ

hāżihī jahannamul-latī yukażżibu bihal-mujrimūn(a).

This is the Hell the sinners denied.



44

يَطُوْفُوْنَ بَيْنَهَا وَبَيْنَ حَمِيْمٍ اٰنٍۚ

yaṭūfūna bainahā wa baina ḥamīmin ān(in).

They will circulate between it and scalding water.



45

فَبِاَيِّ اٰلَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبٰنِ ࣖ

fa bi'ayyi ālā'i rabbikumā tukażżibān(i).

Which of your Lord’s favors will you deny?



46

وَلِمَنْ خَافَ مَقَامَ رَبِّهٖ جَنَّتٰنِۚ

wa liman khāfa maqāma rabbihī jannatān(i).

For those fearing their Lord’s presence are two gardens.



47

فَبِاَيِّ اٰلَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبٰنِۙ

fa bi'ayyi ālā'i rabbikumā tukażżibān(i).

Which of your Lord’s favors will you deny?



48

ذَوَاتَآ اَفْنَانٍۚ

Żawātā afnān(in).

Abounding in branches and fruits.



49

فَبِاَيِّ اٰلَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبٰنِ

fabi'ayyi ālā'i rabbikumā tukażżibān(i).

Which of your Lord’s favors will you deny?



50

فِيْهِمَا عَيْنٰنِ تَجْرِيٰنِۚ

fīhimā ‘aināni tajriyān(i).

In them are two flowing springs.



51

فَبِاَيِّ اٰلَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبٰنِ

fa bi'ayyi ālā'i rabbikumā tukażżibān(i).

In them are pairs of every fruit.



52

فِيْهِمَا مِنْ كُلِّ فَاكِهَةٍ زَوْجٰنِۚ

fīhimā min kulli fākihatin zaujān(i).

Which of your Lord’s favors will you deny?



53

فَبِاَيِّ اٰلَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبٰنِۚ

fa bi'ayyi ālā'i rabbikumā tukażżibān(i).

Which of your Lord’s favors will you deny?



54

مُتَّكِـِٕيْنَ عَلٰى فُرُشٍۢ بَطَاۤىِٕنُهَا مِنْ اِسْتَبْرَقٍۗ وَجَنَا الْجَنَّتَيْنِ دَانٍۚ

muttaki'īna ‘alā furusyim baṭā'inuhā min istabraq(in), wa janal-jannataini dān(in).

They recline on carpets lined with silk, with fruits of both gardens near.



55

فَبِاَيِّ اٰلَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبٰنِ

fa bi'ayyi ālā'i rabbikumā tukażżibān(i).

Which of your Lord’s favors will you deny?



56

فِيْهِنَّ قٰصِرٰتُ الطَّرْفِۙ لَمْ يَطْمِثْهُنَّ اِنْسٌ قَبْلَهُمْ وَلَا جَاۤنٌّۚ

fīhinna qāṣirātuṭ-ṭarf(i), lam yaṭmiṡhunna insun qablahum wa lā jānn(un).

In them are maidens of modest gaze, untouched by man or jinn before.



57

فَبِاَيِّ اٰلَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبٰنِۚ

fa bi'ayyi ālā'i rabbikumā tukażżibān(i).

Which of your Lord’s favors will you deny?



58

كَاَنَّهُنَّ الْيَاقُوْتُ وَالْمَرْجَانُۚ

ka'annahunnal-yāqūtu wal-marjān(u).

Like rubies and coral in beauty.



59

فَبِاَيِّ اٰلَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبٰنِ

fa bi'ayyi ālā'i rabbikumā tukażżibān(i).

Which of your Lord’s favors will you deny?



60

هَلْ جَزَاۤءُ الْاِحْسَانِ اِلَّا الْاِحْسَانُۚ

hal jazā'ul-iḥsāni illal-iḥsān(u).

Is the reward for good other than good?



61

فَبِاَيِّ اٰلَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبٰنِ

fa bi'ayyi ālā'i rabbikumā tukażżibān(i).

Which of your Lord’s favors will you deny?



62

وَمِنْ دُوْنِهِمَا جَنَّتٰنِۚ

wa min dūnihimā jannatān(i).

Besides these are two more gardens.



63

فَبِاَيِّ اٰلَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبٰنِۙ

fa bi'ayyi ālā'i rabbikumā tukażżibān(i).

Which of your Lord’s favors will you deny?



64

مُدْهَاۤمَّتٰنِۚ

mudhāmmatān(i).

Dark green with lushness.



65

فَبِاَيِّ اٰلَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبٰنِ

fa bi'ayyi ālā'i rabbikumā tukażżibān(i).

Which of your Lord’s favors will you deny?



66

فِيْهِمَا عَيْنٰنِ نَضَّاخَتٰنِۚ

fīhimā ‘aināni naḍḍākhatān(i).

In them are two gushing springs.



67

فَبِاَيِّ اٰلَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبٰنِۚ

fa bi'ayyi ālā'i rabbikumā tukażżibān(i).

Which of your Lord’s favors will you deny?



68

فِيْهِمَا فَاكِهَةٌ وَّنَخْلٌ وَّرُمَّانٌۚ

fīhimā fākihatuw wa nakhluw wa rummān(un).

In them are fruits, dates, and pomegranates.



69

فَبِاَيِّ اٰلَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبٰنِۚ

fa bi'ayyi ālā'i rabbikumā tukażżibān(i).

Which of your Lord’s favors will you deny?



70

فِيْهِنَّ خَيْرٰتٌ حِسَانٌۚ

fīhinna khairātun ḥisān(un).

In them are maidens, fair and virtuous.



71

فَبِاَيِّ اٰلَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبٰنِۚ

fa bi'ayyi ālā'i rabbikumā tukażżibān(i).

Which of your Lord’s favors will you deny?



72

حُوْرٌ مَّقْصُوْرٰتٌ فِى الْخِيَامِۚ

Ḥūrum maqṣūrātun fil-khiyām(i).

Maidens sheltered in pavilions.



73

فَبِاَيِّ اٰلَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبٰنِۚ

fa bi'ayyi ālā'i rabbikumā tukażżibān(i).

Which of your Lord’s favors will you deny?



74

لَمْ يَطْمِثْهُنَّ اِنْسٌ قَبْلَهُمْ وَلَا جَاۤنٌّۚ

lam yaṭmiṡhunna insun qablahum wa lā jānn(un).

Untouched by man or jinn before.



75

فَبِاَيِّ اٰلَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبٰنِۚ

fa bi'ayyi ālā'i rabbikumā tukażżibān(i).

Which of your Lord’s favors will you deny?



76

مُتَّكِـِٕيْنَ عَلٰى رَفْرَفٍ خُضْرٍ وَّعَبْقَرِيٍّ حِسَانٍۚ

muttaki'īna ‘alā rafrafin khuḍriw wa ‘abqariyyin ḥisān(in).

Reclining on green cushions and fine carpets.



77

فَبِاَيِّ اٰلَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبٰنِۚ

fa bi'ayyi ālā'i rabbikumā tukażżibān(i).

Which of your Lord’s favors will you deny?



78

تَبٰرَكَ اسْمُ رَبِّكَ ذِى الْجَلٰلِ وَالْاِكْرَامِ ࣖ

tabārakasmu rabbika żil-jalāli wal-ikrām(i).

Blessed be your Lord’s name, Lord of Majesty and Glory.
