اِذْ قَالَتِ امْرَاَتُ عِمْرٰنَ رَبِّ اِنِّيْ نَذَرْتُ لَكَ مَا فِيْ بَطْنِيْ مُحَرَّرًا فَتَقَبَّلْ مِنِّيْ ۚ اِنَّكَ اَنْتَ السَّمِيْعُ الْعَلِيْمُ

iż qālatimra'atu ‘imrāna rabbi innī nażartu laka mā fī baṭnī muḥarraran fataqabbal minnī, innaka antas-samī‘ul-‘alīm(u).

When the wife of 'Imran said, 'My Lord, I dedicate to You what is in my womb, set apart (for Your service). Accept it from me. You are the All-Hearing, All-Knowing.'

وَمُصَدِّقًا لِّمَا بَيْنَ يَدَيَّ مِنَ التَّوْرٰىةِ وَلِاُحِلَّ لَكُمْ بَعْضَ الَّذِيْ حُرِّمَ عَلَيْكُمْ وَجِئْتُكُمْ بِاٰيَةٍ مِّنْ رَّبِّكُمْۗ فَاتَّقُوا اللّٰهَ وَاَطِيْعُوْنِ

wa muṣaddiqal limā baina yadayya minat-taurāti wa li'uḥilla lakum ba‘ḍal-lażī ḥurrima ‘alaikum wa ji'tukum bi'āyatim mir rabbikum, fattaqullāha wa aṭī‘ūn(i).

'And (I come) confirming the Torah before me, and to make lawful for you some of what was forbidden to you. I have come with a sign from your Lord, so fear Allah and obey me.'

اَلَّذِيْنَ قَالُوْٓا اِنَّ اللّٰهَ عَهِدَ اِلَيْنَآ اَلَّا نُؤْمِنَ لِرَسُوْلٍ حَتّٰى يَأْتِيَنَا بِقُرْبَانٍ تَأْكُلُهُ النَّارُ ۗ قُلْ قَدْ جَاۤءَكُمْ رُسُلٌ مِّنْ قَبْلِيْ بِالْبَيِّنٰتِ وَبِالَّذِيْ قُلْتُمْ فَلِمَ قَتَلْتُمُوْهُمْ اِنْ كُنْتُمْ صٰدِقِيْنَ

al-lażīna qālū innallāha ‘ahida ilainā allā nu'mina lirasūlin ḥattā ya'tiyanā biqurbānin ta'kuluhun-nār(u), qul qad jā'akum rusulum min qablī bil-bayyināti wa bil-lażī qultum falima qataltumūhum in kuntum ṣādiqīn(a).

Those (Jews) who said, 'Allah commanded us not to believe in a messenger until he brings a sacrifice consumed by fire.' Say (Muhammad), 'Messengers before me came with clear proofs and what you mentioned, so why did you kill them if you are truthful?'

وَعَلَى الَّذِيْنَ هَادُوْا حَرَّمْنَا كُلَّ ذِيْ ظُفُرٍۚ وَمِنَ الْبَقَرِ وَالْغَنَمِ حَرَّمْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ شُحُوْمَهُمَآ اِلَّا مَا حَمَلَتْ ظُهُوْرُهُمَآ اَوِ الْحَوَايَآ اَوْ مَا اخْتَلَطَ بِعَظْمٍۗ ذٰلِكَ جَزَيْنٰهُمْ بِبَغْيِهِمْۚ وَاِنَّا لَصٰدِقُوْنَ

wa ‘alal-lażīna hādū ḥarramnā kulla żī ẓufur(in), wa minal-baqari wal-ganami ḥarramnā ‘alaihim syuḥūmahumā illā mā ḥamalat ẓuhūruhumā awil-ḥawāyā au makhtalaṭa bi‘aẓm(in), żālika jazaināhum bibagyihim, wa innā laṣādiqūn(a).

To Jews, We forbade cloven-hoofed animals, cow and sheep fat, except what’s on backs, entrails, or mixed with bone. We punished their rebellion. We are truthful.

اَلَّذِيْنَ يَتَّبِعُوْنَ الرَّسُوْلَ النَّبِيَّ الْاُمِّيَّ الَّذِيْ يَجِدُوْنَهٗ مَكْتُوْبًا عِنْدَهُمْ فِى التَّوْرٰىةِ وَالْاِنْجِيْلِ يَأْمُرُهُمْ بِالْمَعْرُوْفِ وَيَنْهٰىهُمْ عَنِ الْمُنْكَرِ وَيُحِلُّ لَهُمُ الطَّيِّبٰتِ وَيُحَرِّمُ عَلَيْهِمُ الْخَبٰۤىِٕثَ وَيَضَعُ عَنْهُمْ اِصْرَهُمْ وَالْاَغْلٰلَ الَّتِيْ كَانَتْ عَلَيْهِمْۗ فَالَّذِيْنَ اٰمَنُوْا بِهٖ وَعَزَّرُوْهُ وَنَصَرُوْهُ وَاتَّبَعُوا النُّوْرَ الَّذِيْٓ اُنْزِلَ مَعَهٗٓ ۙاُولٰۤىِٕكَ هُمُ الْمُفْلِحُوْنَ ࣖ

al-lażīna yattabi‘ūnar-rasūlan nabiyyal-ummiyyal-lażī yajidūnahū maktūban ‘indahum fit-taurāti wal-injīli ya'muruhum bil-ma‘rūfi wa yanhāhum ‘anil-munkari wa yuḥillu lahumuṭ-ṭayyibāti wa yuḥarrimu ‘alaihimul-khabā'iṡa wa yaḍa‘u ‘anhum iṣrahum wal-aglālal-latī kānat ‘alaihim, fal-lażīna āmanū bihī wa ‘azzarūhu wa naṣarūhu wattaba‘un nūral-lażī unzila ma‘ah(ū), ulā'ika humul-mufliḥūn(a).

Those who follow the Messenger, the unlettered Prophet, whose name they find written in the Torah and Gospel with them, who enjoins what is right, forbids what is wrong, makes lawful the good things, prohibits the bad, and relieves them of their burdens and shackles. Those who believe in him, honor him, help him, and follow the light sent with him (the Qur’an)—they are the successful.

فَكُلِيْ وَاشْرَبِيْ وَقَرِّيْ عَيْنًا ۚفَاِمَّا تَرَيِنَّ مِنَ الْبَشَرِ اَحَدًاۙ فَقُوْلِيْٓ اِنِّيْ نَذَرْتُ لِلرَّحْمٰنِ صَوْمًا فَلَنْ اُكَلِّمَ الْيَوْمَ اِنْسِيًّا ۚ

fa kulī wasyrabī wa qarrī ‘ainā(n), fa immā tarayinna minal-basyari aḥadā(n), fa qūlī innī nażartu lir-raḥmāni ṣauman falan ukallimal-yauma insiyyā(n).

'Eat, drink, and be comforted. If you see anyone, say, “I’ve vowed a fast to the Most Merciful; I won’t speak to anyone today.”'

وَلِكُلِّ اُمَّةٍ جَعَلْنَا مَنْسَكًا لِّيَذْكُرُوا اسْمَ اللّٰهِ عَلٰى مَا رَزَقَهُمْ مِّنْۢ بَهِيْمَةِ الْاَنْعَامِۗ فَاِلٰهُكُمْ اِلٰهٌ وَّاحِدٌ فَلَهٗٓ اَسْلِمُوْاۗ وَبَشِّرِ الْمُخْبِتِيْنَ ۙ

wa likulli ummatin ja‘alnā mansakal liyażkurusmallāhi ‘alā mā razaqahum mim bahīmatil-an‘ām(i), fa ilāhukum ilāhuw wāḥidun fa lahū aslimū, wa basysyiril-mukhbitīn(a).

For every nation, We ordained sacrifice to mention Allah’s name over livestock He provided; your God is One, so submit to Him; give glad tidings to the humble.

لِكُلِّ اُمَّةٍ جَعَلْنَا مَنْسَكًا هُمْ نَاسِكُوْهُ فَلَا يُنَازِعُنَّكَ فِى الْاَمْرِ وَادْعُ اِلٰى رَبِّكَۗ اِنَّكَ لَعَلٰى هُدًى مُّسْتَقِيْمٍ

likulli ummatin ja‘alnā mansakan hum nāsikūhu falā yunāzi‘unnaka fil-amri wad‘u ilā rabbik(a), innaka la‘alā hudam mustaqīm(in).

For every nation, We set rites they follow; let them not dispute with you; call to your Lord; you are on a straight path.

ثُمَّ قَفَّيْنَا عَلٰٓى اٰثَارِهِمْ بِرُسُلِنَا وَقَفَّيْنَا بِعِيْسَى ابْنِ مَرْيَمَ وَاٰتَيْنٰهُ الْاِنْجِيْلَ ەۙ وَجَعَلْنَا فِيْ قُلُوْبِ الَّذِيْنَ اتَّبَعُوْهُ رَأْفَةً وَّرَحْمَةً ۗوَرَهْبَانِيَّةَ ِۨابْتَدَعُوْهَا مَا كَتَبْنٰهَا عَلَيْهِمْ اِلَّا ابْتِغَاۤءَ رِضْوَانِ اللّٰهِ فَمَا رَعَوْهَا حَقَّ رِعَايَتِهَا ۚفَاٰتَيْنَا الَّذِيْنَ اٰمَنُوْا مِنْهُمْ اَجْرَهُمْ ۚ وَكَثِيْرٌ مِّنْهُمْ فٰسِقُوْنَ

Ṡumma qaffainā ‘alā āṡārihim birusulinā wa qaffainā bi‘īsabni maryama wa ātaināhul-injīl(a), wa ja‘alnā fī qulūbil-lażīnattaba‘ūhu ra'fataw wa raḥmah(tan), wa rahbāniyyatanibtada‘ūhā mā katabnā ‘alaihim illabtigā'a riḍwānillāhi famā ra‘auhā ḥaqqa ri‘āyatihā, fa'ātainal-lażīna āmanū minhum ajrahum, wa kaṡīrum minhum fāsiqūn(a).

We sent messengers after them, including Jesus, son of Mary, to whom We gave the Gospel. We placed compassion and mercy in the hearts of his followers. They invented monasticism, which We did not prescribe, seeking God’s pleasure, but did not observe it rightly. We rewarded the believers among them, but many were rebellious
